Sharma, born in 1947 at Khongman Manzil, Imphal, Manipur (India), holds M.A. degree in Philosophy from the Centre of Advanced Study in Philosophy, Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan (India) and Ph.D. and D.Litt. degrees from Meerut University and Ranchi University respectively. He is a fellow of the Royal Asiatic Society of Great Britain and Ireland. He is life member of many academic and cultural organisations including Indian Philosophi¬cal Congress, Akhil Bharatiya Darshan Parishad and Manipur Sahitya Parishad. At present, he is Reader and Head of Department of Philosophy, Manipur College, Imphal. He has published a number of papers and participated in several State, National and International Conferences and Seminars. He is the author of The Idealistic Philosophy of Swami Vivekananda, Kang-Khong Chairaba Punshi, Trends in Contemporary Indian Philosophy of Education, An Introduction to Gandhian Thought and The Mother's Philosophy of Education.
