Introduction to Commerce attempts to provide simple and easy approach for understanding the basics of Commerce. It primarily covers six pertinent disciplines of commercial studies, namely Accounts, Economics, Human Resource, Statistics, Business Management Concepts and Practices and Business Communication. The chapter on Accounts includes Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and ways of preparing accounts. The chapter on Economics describes the pertinent topics with diagrams and explanations. Various aspects of Human Resource Management have been explained in a separate chapter, which is rich with figures and exhibits. The chapter “Introduction to Business Management” throws light on managerial concepts and practices. Statistics is the collection, organization, presentation and interpretation of numerical data, which are very useful in Commerce. Different statistical methods, classification of data and frequency distribution have been explained with the help of illustrations, tables and equations. The book employs some useful and distinctive learning tips, wherever necessary, alongside conceptual literature to facilitate memorization of fundamentals. About the Author/s
Amit Vikram is a corporate professional since 2003. At present he is associated with Analytics Centre of Excellence in a renowned multinational corporation based out of Delhi/NCR. He graduated in Commerce (Hons.) from Delhi University and in due course did MBA from Jagan Institute of Management Studies Delhi, specializing in finance and marketing. Amit has extensive experience and exposure to assignments, both national and international, in the following areas: • Industry/Market Research; • Formulation of Business Case/ Plan; • Process Transitions; • Process Map designing and Re-engineering; and • Analytics-based tactical consulting solutions.
