Human Resource Development (HRD) is crucial to growth of the individual, the country and the economy. Inculcation of the required skills for employability, creativity, complex process of inquiry and innovation are necessary and need to be embedded in the learning system. Education should produce responsible citizens and people with humanistic values. Emphasis on inclusive and equitable higher education is necessary. Aptitude for entrepreneurship should be cultivated right from the beginning in the university environment. Education should have relevance to the social milieu too and efforts are required to preserve and protect the unique cultures prevalent across the country. Use of modern and digital technologies and blended learning can improve accessibility and enhance the reach of education. New models of education need to be invented that are pragmatic and will build a diverse society. The problems can be overcome with drastic reforms in governance, improving teacher quality and focusing on learning outcomes. In modern India, the governance of universities should adopt modern and tested systems, including reforms in the current examination system. The technological revolution in India is being led by the young population and the country can draw great economic leverage by developing this young human resource with right kind of education and skills. The articles by some of the acclaimed academicians, brought together in this book, highlight the need for academic excellence and access, human resource development, adoption of new technologies, blended learning, leadership qualities, and importance of industry linkages.

About the Author/s
Vijaya Deshmukh was educated at Amrawati and Marathwada University. She holds Bachelors in English Literature, Law and Masters in Business Administration, specializing in HR and Finance. She is Ph.D. in Management Science. She is an Accredited Management Teacher from AIMA, New Delhi and a research guide. She also specializes in Organisation Development, Leadership, Operations Research and Methodologies. She is currently working as Registrar with the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad. She has about 22 years experience in the areas of Academic Governance, Teaching, Research and Industry. She has worked in educational institutes of repute like IIT. She has carried out extensive research in the area of management and governance in institutes of higher learning and has a wide range of publications in these areas. She has authored around 40 articles, published in various national/international journals. She has edited three books on higher education, covering the emerging scenario and the need for reforms in the context of globalization in higher education. Dr. Deshmukh has contributed as member on various national and international panels like the UGC, Validation and Quality Assurance Panel, University for Creative Arts, UK, NAAC, Screening Committee for Selection of National Award for Best Applied Research/Innovation/Product Development, Development of Content and Capacity Building programmes on Northeast Edusat Network, etc.
